Eskom leadership changes have reduced load-shedding – former CEO 

Former Eskom CEO, Jacob Maroga, stated that changes in the power utility’s leadership have led to fundamental improvements, resulting in reduced load-shedding.  

He attributed the improved performance to the President’s Energy Action Plan, the appointment of Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, and the utility’s focus on fixing its coal fleet. Additionally, a warmer-than-expected winter and reduced demand from large industrial businesses have contributed to lower levels of load-shedding.  

Despite these positive developments, Maroga cautioned that it is still early days and South Africans should wait to see if the performance improvements are sustained.
